Ten years ago today, Michelle and I were married at a beautiful vineyard in Connecticut with so many family and friends in attendance. It was unquestionably the high point of our lives up to that point.
As part of our anniversary celebration, and leading up to Michelle's birthday on October 1, Michelle and I had planned on running in PurpleStride, a multi-city and multi-date event by the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network to raise funds and awareness. Portland's run is in two weeks, on September 24.
I'm still assembling a team for PurpleStride, and I am shooting for twenty local participants and $5,000 raised in Michelle's honor. Things are well on their way but I still need help.
So far, I've even got great friends coming from the East Coast to run that day. There will be a Wall of Hope that will include pictures of Michelle, and I'm going to be on the local TV news next week in an interview about the run and about Michelle's story.
Michelle didn't get to see today or the run day. There's something terribly wrong about that. I plan on running every year in her memory until we can wipe out pancreatic cancer for good. Please join me, in person or in spirit, as you remember Michelle this fall.
